Room with rows of electrical skids

The Arizona State University (ASU) Desert Financial Arena project used a prefabricated power distribution center to modernize electrical infrastructure with minimal disruption and reduced on-site labor.

The Arizona State University (ASU) Desert Financial Arena project replaced the arena's aging electrical infrastructure with a Power Distribution Center (PDC), allowing the facility to remain operational throughout construction. To minimize disruption to campus activities, ASU and the project general contractor, DPR Construction, selected a prefabricated exterior power distribution center that enabled circuits to be transferred individually from the existing electrical room to new switchgear located outside the building.

EIG's modular solution integrated the switchgear, transformer secondary connections and a generator docking station into a single prefabricated system, reducing on-site labor requirements and limiting complex feeder cable installations. Manufactured off-site and delivered as a complete unit, EIG helped streamline installation, improve construction efficiency and reduce impacts to ongoing arena operations.

Collaboration across the DPR Family of Companies further enhanced project delivery. GPLA provided engineering and custom detailing to route interconnecting conduit within the skid structure, while Digital Building Components supplied EIFS wall panels for the exterior façade, creating a durable, visually appealing finish that complemented the campus environment.
